Hey, Hi, Hello!!!
In leu of my attempts to conjure up some notions for a blog, I thought I should probably share my writing process with you. Noooo, not the blog writing. I was leaning more towards sharing my thought process when writing lyrics. It’s pretty simple, however, it may seem complex to many.
Various artists have their own writing methods which may easily be adopted by some, but not all. Mine, in particular, tends to begin with a melody.
Actually, there are times where I am influenced by the emotions portrayed by another artists in their ensemble of sounds. Instruments ask and answer questions that I eventually engage with on an emotional level. I dive deep within my current emotions and write poetically, finding the words that phonetically create synchronicity between the emotions I am sharing over the particular melodies I’m listening to. It’s an art like no other.
Yes, writing a blog is a way to share my thoughts with you, but writing the lyrics to a song dives deeper into my very essence. It also allows for you, the listener, to perceive my message in a multitude of ways. Poetic literature is meant to stimulate the mind of the person receiving the message by triggering certain strings of emotions. The most phenomenal part of art as such is it’s ability to trigger different emotions within different people at the same moment in time.
I know haha. And if it isn’t amazing, maybe this isn’t your calling haha. Don’t fret though, it can always become your calling.
Anywhoooo, I write as if I want to tell a story, continuously breaking the message apart. For example, here’s a quick bar of straight FIRE:
bahahaaaaa Don’t judge me. This is off the cuff…
As you gaze at me, remember my face,
imagine yourself in my sweet embrace,
the warmth that I give you might make you desire,
a genuine love…
CUZ I SPIT HOT FIREEEEEEEE!!!!!
If I give you anymore of my secrets, you might become my direct competition. haha.
Seriously though, being creative is inside of all of us. It’s only a matter of diving deep within yourselves, pulling out the emotion you feel the most, and mixing words together that express your feelings.
I can’t sit here and give you a formula because art has no specific formula. The formula that works for you has to be unique.
Want me to be your sensei!!??? Here, I’ll tell you how to start.
START WRITING…Anything. Express yourself.
Courage to express yourself is the real key to the lyrical writing process.
With that, I’ll end the blog. Love you my peeps! May you have a blessed Holiday Season. I’ll catch you on my next collection of words.
Oh, and tell me what you think about this one in the comments. Let me know how you feel about writing. Did I strike some points that hit home? I won’t know unless you tell me haha.
